Welcome early spring in Izu at Inatori Cultural Park. Enjoy Hina footbath, vine decorations, and weeping peach blossoms all at once.
Inatori Cultural Park, located at the entrance of Inatori Hot Springs in Higashi Izu, is a spot filled with the highlights that symbolize Izu in early spring. The park's "Hina no Ashiyu" (footbath for hina), marked by a large hot spring yagura, can be used by about 20 people at the same time, and the five blocks have different temperatures, which is a nice feature. Take a break from your trip and take a breather at the temperature of your choice. Open year-round from 10:00 to 21:00, it is free and easy to stop by. Bring a towel and comfortable shoes that are easy to take off and put on.
Hina no Yakata, the main exhibition hall of "Hina no Tsurushi Matsuri (Hina Dolls' Decoration Festival)" is open from January 20 to March 31 every year. Visitors can take their time to admire the beauty of the delicate "Hina no Tsurushi" decorations that have been passed down through the generations in Inatori. Admission is 500 yen (500 yen for parking), and the museum is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is recommended to visit the museum in conjunction with the footbath while feeling the wishes of the visitors in the soft fabric work. (The Hina no Yakata is also open in spring (around April to May) and fall (around September to November). At the morning market in the port, you can find "Inatori-style" foods such as kamimeshi (rice cooked in a pot), dried horse mackerel, citrus fruits in season, and strawberries. Combining a walk around the city with a food stop before or after viewing the exhibition will further increase your satisfaction.
The "weeping peaches" that add color to the spring season are also not to be missed. The garden's weeping peaches bloom brightly around March, creating a photo-worthy scene that echoes the loveliness of the vine decorations. You can take pictures in a relatively relaxed atmosphere just after the park opens or in the early evening. When the park is crowded, please be considerate of each other's manners and enjoy the spring scenery in a pleasant manner.
Access by train: 15-minute walk from Izu Inatori Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. By car, it is as easy as 3 minutes from the Inatori Onsen Entrance signboard on Route 135. The footbath and pavilion are popular with families and three generations traveling together, and it is easy to plan either a stroll from the station or a car trip.
